Humbled

Being humbled is a prerequisite to being humble. As leaders, our ego (while necessary) can override the best interests of others and ourselves.

Ego and Power are closely followed by their redheaded stepbrother, Hubris. Together, in large quantities, they become a commendable foe and our nemesis.

Building on each other, this triad will foster a humbling opportunity—our own personal slap to the face experience.

How we embrace humility and choose to respond is the measure of a true leader. Accept its lesson and find salvation. Deny it and reap its bitter rewards.
